Defence Committee

James was elected by the House of Commons as Chair of the Defence Select Committee in June 2010.

The committee is made up of twelve Members of Parliament, elected by their parties and drawn from the coalition Government, the Opposition and the minor parties. Its responsibility is to monitor and to hold to account the Ministry of Defence and its associated public bodies, including the armed forces, on behalf of the House of Commons and the people who elect it.
